BIZET arr. IAIN SUTHERLAND
Such was the popularity and influence of the novels and poems of Sir Walter Scott that at least thirty operas are credited to have been written based upon his books; Bizet’s “The Fair Maid of Perth” having been written in 1828. Like all good serenades should, it is sung by the tenor beneath the balcony of his fair maid. Iain Sutherland has adapted it from the original and re-scored it for concert performances.
