This rollicking Scots ballad tells the tale of a recalcitrant lady of good breeding who married beneath her station. It recounts the many less than genteel ways that her husband, the cooper of the title, uses to bring her to her senses as a good and obedient wife. Totally non-PC in today’s world but a hilarious tale of a bygone age. Iain Sutherland’s arrangement is for male voice and chamber orchestra.
