From “Songs of the Hebrides” collected by Kennedy-Fraser comes this heroic ballad. When a son was born to the Lord of the Isles, from his castle on Islay his galleys would sail to every part of his domain, to the Northern Isles, and to the Western Isles, and the joy of the birth would be expressed in feasting and celebration and in great poetic ballads. Iain Sutherland’s operatic arrangement is for Tenor and Orchestra.
